女性のカテーテル法は、手術前または出産後、高齢者のケアで、滅菌標本を取得したり、障害のある女性の膀胱圧を緩和するために必要になる場合があります。 Catheters can be one-time, intermittent (straight) or long-term (Foley). Sterile technique is necessary to avoid introduction of bacteria into the normally sterile urinary tract.

     Explain to the patient that you are going to clean inside the labia and that the solution may feel cold. If packets of cleansing solution are sterile, open them and saturate cotton balls.
